"Blondie, what the fuck is going on." I was walking into my cousin Joel's bar in Las Vegas. and Blondie is my nickname for him. Cousin Joel from Kansas has been in the bar and nightclub business for a number of years..We both moved to Las Vegas about the same time, and we even lived together for a bit. "Robo, where the fuck have you been?" His father, my Uncle John, nicknamed me Robo when I was a kid. His father and him are the only two people who call me Robo.
"Same old Las Vegas grind. Just trying to keep from going under. Joel, I want to run an idea by you, and I believe it's fitting for a Las Vegas setting. Las Vegas is a big reality town. Reality is a burgeoning business, and I see know reason to think it will change. What would you think about a reality blog/video/whatever you want to call it..The story would revolve around two cousins from Kansas who are trying to stake their claim in Sin City." My cousin Joel is a single guy with no kids, he's got a pretty good head on his shoulders, and if anyone would catch my drift about reality in Las Vegas? Most likely? It would be him.
"Robo, how do you keep coming up with all these crazy ideas? Wouldn't it be easier for you to find a job and get your fucking heads out of the clouds? On the other hand, your right about reality in Las Vegas. If your going to try something like that. This is the town?" A few years ago, Joel helped me create a couple videos..Basically, I was going into small businesses in Las Vegas, interviewing the owners, and then placing them on my Face Book account..Everything was ad lib, and we never got anywhere with it..But, I remember his exact words to me back then.."Robo, your on to something, I'm not sure what, but your definitely onto something."
"Joel, I want you to think about something, and we can chat later..You know what was missing back then? A script to follow! And I'm here to tell you that I can take care of that problem. If you want to play along, I can make the both of us look like rock stars!" I'm a firm believer that Joel and I can help each other. Both of us have been through a rough patch the last few years, and we're slowly starting to come out of it..
Final thoughts: "We would need to play the Kansas part of things up. Think of it as two guys from Kansas trying to make their way in Vegas..Throw in a number of Las Vegas players to liven things up. But, the most important thing? We would be able to CONTROL the script and the direction!"
